This month at SMAN 7 Banjarmasin ETA Said Haji switched up his regular programming during English conversation club. Typically Said would lead the discussions, and in the past some topics discussed were mental health, bullying, and education system in Indonesia. However, this month Said implemented a new system to allow for students to take on a larger role during conversation club.
He implemented a new rotating speaker system where individual students were tasked with creating talking points, and leading the discussion. This proved to be quite successful and the lead student was actively prompting the rest of the students to share their thoughts. To strengthen English club participation, the club president planned the first hangout session after school. Said and the students met at a local coffee shop to practice their English in a more casual setting. There was an amazing turnout of about 14 students, and the students afterword’s requested another hangout session to continue to practice their English in a relaxed environment.
Said Haji is currently teaching at SMAN 7 Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.
