Dian Setiawan M is pursuing graduate work for a PhD in civil engineering at Texas A&M University.

He is a lecturer at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Universitas Gadjah Mada and his master’s in transport systems and railway systems engineering from Universitas Gadjah Mada and the University of Birmingham in a double degree program. He has worked as a railway engineer consultant for several railway projects sponsored by the Ministry of Transportation of Indonesia, advising on railway infrastructure design.

After completing his doctorate, Dian will continue his duty as a lecturer and researcher. He also plans to present the result of his research to policymakers at the Ministry of Transportation to offer information on the use of non-conventional rail tracks.
