Dr. Abdurachman Assegaf heads the Islamic education program at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Ampel Surabaya.

He earned three degrees from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta: a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Islamic education and a PhD in Islamic studies.

Dr. Abdurachman is researching religious studies at Boston University, specifically policy transformation in Islamic education in post-colonial Indonesia. He plans to publish the results as a book or journal article. He is also involved in developing the educational curriculum at his home institution.
