At the University of California, Santa Cruz, Dr Benny Baskara is conducting research on sea reclamation and its impacts on the life of the Bajo people. He hopes to place the research results in the context of general Indonesian and Southeast Asian studies. He believes there are sources only available in the U.S., and he will benefit from consultations with American experts and scholars in his field.
Dr Benny is a lecturer at Universitas Halu Oleo in Kendari.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Universitas Gadjah Mada and his master’s degree from Universitas Paramadina, both in philosophy. His PhD in religious studies was from the Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies (ICRS) Universitas Gadjah Mada.
