Dr Iwan Setiawan researches atomic and molecular physics at the University of Maryland. His research project is on “Constructing a Method of Fast-forward Adiabatic Quantum Spin Dynamics from Classical Spin Dynamics,” with supervision by Prof. Jarzynski, University of Maryland’s well-known atomic physicist expert in spin dynamics. His project is in theoretical physics, but he hopes that there may be eventual practical applications. In any case, his experience will help advance physics in Indonesia and at his home institution.

He completed his PhD from Institut Teknologi Bandung, his master’s from Universitas Gadjah Mada, and his bachelors from Universitas Sriwijaya – all in physics.

Dr Iwan is an assistant professor at Universitas Bengkulu.
