Dr Kristine Gritter is a literacy professor who teaches and does research on adolescent literacy practices, disciplinary literacy in secondary classrooms, and inclusion in children and young adult literature.
From July 13 to August 21, 2022, she is partnering with the Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana (UKRIDA) English department as a Fulbright Specialist, where she is exploring ways adolescents can address mental health concerns while reading recent award-winning Young Adult literature and exploring literacy curriculum and opportunities for more literacy choices in local schools.
She is a literacy professor at Seattle Pacific University and chair of the Literacy, Language & Equity program that emphasizes reading and writing scientific processes. She also endorses certified teachers to teach reading and ELL so that a good teacher can become an excellent teacher.
Dr Gritter is on the review board of the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy, the flagship journal of the International Literacy Association that focuses on older readers and writers. She has published several articles on adolescent literacy and diversity issues in children’s and young adult literature. She is currently co-writing a book.
