Dr. Romie Oktovianus Bura’s research is in aerospace engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington. He proposes an introductory experimental study that will lead to the “Development of a High-Performance Detonation-Driven, Shock/Expansion Tube for Fundamental High-Speed/Hypersonic Aerodynamics Research.” He is confident that the US is the place to research high-speed aerodynamics. While his work is preliminary to the building of the expansion tube, he feels the knowledge gained in the research process will be of practical and theoretical benefit to Indonesian institutions upon his return.
Dr. Romie is a lecturer at Institut Teknologi Bandung and has also been on assignment at Universitas Pertahanan Indonesia, Jakarta.
He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and his PhD from the University of Southampton, both in aerospace engineering.
