FRP staff during the online training with ITC
The Foreign Research Permit (FRP) staff of BRIN (formerly RISTEK/BRIN, a part of the Ministry of Research and Technology or RISTEK, which now is part of Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology) felt a surge of confidence in using English after completing a 14-session English training program organized by AMINEF and US Embassy Jakarta in mid-June 2021.
The weekly online sessions, facilitated by International Test Centre (ITC), started in February, and eight staff participated with a perfect attendance record.
Sessions included English for business communications, which is essential for the FRP staff to support their interaction with foreign researchers, including American Fulbright Scholars and Student Researchers, who want to carry out their grants in Indonesia.
A feedback survey conducted by AMINEF found that the FRP staff’s level of confidence in using English actively increased significantly (from 38 percent to 71 percent).
“This is a great program because it makes not only me but also all other FRP staff felt more confident [to use English],” said training participant Entin Laelasari.
Other participants added that the English training helps them to perform their work better.
“This program increased our English proficiency which will enable us to be more professional in facilitating foreign researchers who come to Indonesia,” said Meylisa Raharjeng.
Another participant said that the English training encouraged him to write an English language article for publication in an English language online media.
AMINEF appreciates the collaboration with ITC’s administrators and teachers and is grateful for the US Embassy Jakarta’s support.
Congratulations to all of the training participants for the successful completion of the English training.
