Throughout September at SMAN 1 Demak, ETA Sarah Wozniak was grateful for the opportunity to better know her students. Among the many things she learned from them this month, they reminded her that everybody has secrets. During September 20th English Club, Sarah, Pak Baihaqi (a history teacher), and several students played the game “Guess My Secret.” Each player wrote a secret on a piece of paper, then exchanged it for a new (anonymous) secret. In the process of determining which secret belonged to which student, Sarah learned that her students are curious, energetic, and creative. One student detailed the complex title of his rank in a certain online game (a title the ETA promptly forgot). Another student simply said, “My voice is cute:)” By the end of the game, it became clear that several students are talented actors who managed to bluff their way to the end of the game. It also became clear that the secrets revealed in this game hardly scratch the surface of these students’ goals and passions. Sarah is eager to learn more from SMAN 1 Demak’s students.
