In order to get to know her students and break the ice during her first moments in the classroom, ETA Shannon Pinzón led a “Getting to Know…” lesson plan the week of August 26- 30, her first official week of co-teaching. Students started class by guessing facts about Shannon using only a few words and numbers which were projected onto the wall at the front of the classroom. Students were able to work with partners to brainstorm ideas and once they were finished students then volunteered to come up to the whiteboard and write down their guesses.

After the board was filled with facts, Shannon went through which facts were correct and which were not. After this, the students played a game of Freeze Ball where they stood in a circle formation and they had to pass around an inflatable globe while music played in the background. The student who was holding the ball whenever the music stopped had to introduce themselves and share with everyone what their favorite hobby was. This went on until each student had a chance to speak. Shannon is thrilled that her students enjoyed a fun day in class and is looking forward to getting to know them all better over the next upcoming weeks.
