Dr Gillian Roehrig is a Fulbright Specialist at Jember University, East Java from October 1-14, 2019. She is working with Indonesian teachers to create a model of STEM integration learning and teaching to be used in the Indonesian school systems. This project aims to develop a learning community around STEM education in collaboration with Jember University that trains pre-service teachers on how to integrate STEM into science courses.
During her two-week award, Dr Roehrig will also lead seminars and workshops on STEM integration and will be a keynote speaker at the 1st International Conference of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education where she will provide guidance on STEM curriculum for undergraduate science and teacher preparation programs.
Dr. Roehrig is a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Minnesota since 2004, where she teaches courses on STEM education and education research methods. She is a former president of the Association for Science Teacher Education and former board member of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST). She has served as a mentor for the PhD summer schools of the East-Asian Association for Science Education, European Science Education Research Association and NARST.
