ETA Sabrina Verleysen was invited to partake in Indonesia’s Independence Day Celebrations in her local community of Demak, Central Java. Both Sabrina and ETA Sarah Wozniak had the incredible opportunity to be styled in traditional Javanese formal attire including hair and makeup styling by two very talented local beauty artists and formal attire shop owners.
After two hours of hair and makeup, Sabrina and Sarah were adorned with gorgeous Javanese outfits, Sabrina in purple and Sarah in red. With the assistance of Sarah’s counterpart Bu Yulia, the ETAs were taken to the stage of the Independence Day Parade to watch performances from many organizations and schools from the wider Regency of Demak. Many of the performances included intricate floats and musical and dance performances by community members of all ages. Sabrina was very grateful to have experienced traditional Javanese culture in this way and looks forward to more opportunities to get involved in her community.
