Home institution: Rutgers University
School placement: SMA Eben Haezar, Manado, North Sulawesi
Katia Oltmann will be teaching at SMA Eben Haezar in Manado, North Sulawesi. She chose Fulbright because she wanted to be part of a program that fosters intercultural exchange between the United States and foreign nations. And she chose Indonesia because the country’s ethnic diversity and rapid pace of economic development fascinated her. She looks forward to teaching high school students and trying to build their confidence in English. Before Fulbright, Katia Oltmann studied English at Rutgers University. After she returns to the United States, she plans to work in either education or publishing.
