Kate will be teaching at SMKN 3 in Pangkalpinang, Bangka. She is most excited about learning a new language and beginning to understand a new culture while in Indonesia, especially with the help of her students and fellow teachers. Prior to her grant year, she graduated from Tufts University with a major in International Relations and German, as well as a minor in Colonialism Studies. While in school, she worked with a campus organization to explore, reaffirm, and promote empowerment and acceptance through dance and community, and she looks forward to continuing to understand culture and change through Indonesian dance and music while she is there. She loves grammar structures and bad jokes, and when she’s not teaching, she hopes to be working on her Indonesian and exploring Pangkalpinang.
