This January, ETA Neelam was happy to be busy once again, not only with her classes but with her English clubs with students, teachers and university friends.
One of Neelam’s highlights for the month of January was working with her co-teachers to find new and exciting ways to include listening activities in their lessons.
Neelam, in particular, had fun recording her own short dialogues and playing them in class, laughing along with her students at the sound of her voice in the audio. The listening activities were a perfect base for discussions about stories and storytelling and allowed Neelam and her co-teachers to begin preparing students for the upcoming 2019 WORDS storytelling competition. One such example included the retelling of a local myth surrounding Batu Belimbing, a nearby natural destination familiar to many students, one that Neelam was lucky enough to visit earlier this year.
Neelam Vohra is currently teaching at SMKN 3 Pangkalpinang, Bangka-Belitung
