As ETA Shannon Pinzon has gotten to know her students better, she has realized the jump in excitement levels when lesson plans include an artistic component. This was especially true during the weeks of teaching “Advertisements.”
During this lesson, students were separated into groups and each group was tasked to create their own advertisement from scratch. Students, themselves would decide if they wanted it to be for a product or an event. Although it took some time to get their creative juices flowing, once students were in the swing of it, they were beaming with ideas.
Students were eager to present their advertisements to their classmates and many students decided to use this opportunity to create ads for LSAC which stands for Lab School Art Creation. LSAC was a student art show that took place at the end of October in which many of Shannon’s students were participating in. Shannon is looking forward to thinking of more diverse ways of implementing art into her lesson planning.
Shannon Pinzón is currently teaching at SMA Laboratorium UM in Malang, East Java.
