Noerhayati Ika Putri is pursuing a doctoral degree in bilingual education, language and literacy at the University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign. Indonesia is known for having a multilingual population, and understanding it better will be beneficial in education programs in Indonesia.

She received a Fulbright Master’s degree scholarship in 2005 to study for Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) also at Illinois.

She is a permanent lecturer at Airlangga University, Surabaya.
