Prof. Alex Nibley is an accomplished educator with a strong theatre, film, and communication background. For his Fulbright Specialist award, he collaborated with Badan Perfilman Indonesia (BPI – Indonesia Film Board) to enhance film education in the country through a Fulbright Specialist project from July 8 – 29, 2023, in Yogyakarta.

For over two decades, he has been immersed in the world of education, with a special focus on digital cinema and related media. At Utah Valley University, Alex serves as the program coordinator for the digital media department, where he leads an array of programs, including digital cinema, screenwriting, audio, animation, gaming, web design, and interactive design. At UCLA and Loyola Marymount University, he pursued post-graduate studies in screenwriting, digital media, game design, and the entertainment industry. His master’s degree in fine arts in theatre was at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. His bachelor’s degree in mass communication was from the University of Utah, with a specific emphasis on film, radio, and television.

Prof. Nibley’s multifaceted career extends beyond academia, encompassing roles as an actor, producer, director, and writer. Notable highlights: As a producer/director, he created “American Dream English,” an educational English language training program designed for the Japanese market, reflecting his commitment to educational innovation. His co-writing credit in “Bright Path: The Jim Thorpe Story,” produced by Angelina Jolie.
