After his first week back in Sangatta Utara—a week filled with Independence Day activities and Eid al-Adha celebrations—ETA Brian Miner was excited to start teaching and meeting with the school’s English club.
The first English club meeting held on August 24 was a great success. The classroom where the club was held was so packed with students that a new room will be prepared to include all the students who want to join in the future. Nearly forty students attended the first club meeting. This was a great increase from the 10 students who were signed up for English club prior to the first meeting. The club played fun English games to get to know each other better. Games like “Four corners” (where students are asked a question and have to move to the corner that corresponds with the answer they most agree with) and “Get to know you bingo” (students mingle, ask questions to one another, and fill out a bingo card with each other’s names) were particularly popular.
Brian Miner is currently teaching at SMKN 1 Sangatta Utara, East Kalimantan
