Throughout September, the teachers at SMKN 1 Sangatta Utara joined ETA Brian Miner for teachers’ English club. These one hour-long meetings were held once a week at school. In their first meetings, the teachers’ English club got to know each other better through fun English games and activities—reviewing how to introduce themselves in English. The teachers also discussed feelings and emotions in English, getting a chance to expand their vocabulary for daily use with each other at school and in the community. Additionally, the club held a practical lesson about “going around town” using English. This lesson included discussion about places and activities one can go and do around town, as well as a review of prepositions and directions. Teachers’ English club is certainly the highlight of Brian’s week, and he hopes the teachers of SMKN 1 Sangatta Utara are as excited as he is to continue meeting for more English fun and practice.
