Thao Nguyen received a Fulbright Student Researcher award for her project “Comparative Analysis of Co-Management in Wakatobi and Karimunjawa, Indonesia.” According to Thao, co-management, the sharing of knowledge, power, and responsibility, among government and local resource users in Indonesia are vital to the sustainability of the world’s oceans. Thao, who has an MA in Political Science from the University of Wyoming, hopes that her current project can provide insights to legitimacy of conservation governance and the social acceptability of environmental management. This collaborative project between Thao and Universitas Diponegoro is expected to end in September 2018.
