On Thursday September 20th, 2018, ETA Ryan Ulrich was asked to attend an event at elementary school Masjid Jamiyatul Muttaqin Kramat Duduksampeyan Gresik (MJMKD). The event was held in celebration of the Islamic New Year. Although held one week after the actual New Year, enthusiasm was high.

Many of the students of MJMKD have parents who work at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik, the school where Ryan teaches. While visiting MJMKD, Ryan had the chance to meet many of his teachers’ families and felt a stronger bond forming between himself and his associates.

While celebrating, Ryan was asked to say a few words to those present. He stated that he has experienced nothing but acceptance and warmth since his arrival in Indonesia two months ago. He also mentioned that he would be happy to hold an English club for any MJMKD students who desired additional lessons outside of school, as you can never know enough about English.
