While April marks the hustle and bustle of classes and lessons for the students of MAN 2, ETA Alexander Lopez-Perez had to say farewell to some of the school’s more nontraditional students. Since the Fall of last year, Alexander in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra has been leading his cohort of the Teacher’s English Course project started by his counterpart and him.
Alexander was lucky enough to have been paired with six of the most ambitious and talented teachers (and counselors) at his school as they nailed through lessons involving everything from writing a collaborative story about lonely trees in open fields to evaluating the differences (and many similarities) between teens in the U.S. and Indonesia.
For their last time together under the prompting of the course, Alexander and the teachers went for an excursion around Bukittinggi to find the mouthwatering Nasi Kapau, order a cake in English, and celebrate a few more stories at the ETA’s house. Indeed, as any of these educators would tell you- learning is never done, it’s just due (and can be fun)!
Alexander Lopez-Perez is currently teaching at MAN 2 Bukittinggi, West Sumatra
