Zatil Afrah is undertaking her PhD program in food science at the University of California – Davis. Her research interest is food safety, given the large degree of unawareness of Indonesian consumers to the potential hazards in their food.
Zatil is a junior researcher at the Research Center for Chemistry, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) where she plans to return upon completion of her program. Previously she worked as a lecturer at the University of Abulyatama in her hometown, Banda Aceh.
She studied food science and technology for a bachelor’s degree from Bogor Institue of Agriculture and masters from Oregon State University.
