ETA Nabeel Ahmad spearheaded an English language workshop in Gorontalo in conjunction with MGMP Brighters, the English teachers committee of Gorontalo. ETAs Ian Morse, Meghan Cullinan, Katia Oltmann and English Language Fellow Alicia Bradley were guest presenters in the full day workshop.
Over 120 English teachers from the Gorontalo province attended and learned new take away strategies to implement in the classroom. Nabeel’s session, Technology in the English Language Classroom, covered offline and online network activities to reinforce content. Offline network activities presented included Four Corners and Jeopardy; online network activities presented included Quizizz and Kahoot. Participants were eager to test out new activities for their students. One English teacher stated she will try Quizizz as a warm-up activity on Monday. Despite the workshop being one day, the ETAs and ELF were still able to form strong connections with participants and share cultural exchange programs from AMINEF and the YES program.
