Anisha Tyagi
Award Year: 2018

Anisha recently graduated from Smith College with a degree in Chemistry. She spent her time outside of lab and classes as a chemistry tutor and mentor to underrepresented students in the sciences.

Anisha applied to be a Fulbright ETA in Indonesia partly because she would love to spend a year working as a teacher, but also because the natural beauty and culture of Indonesia make it a captivating place to live. As an ESL student herself back in the day, she knows too well the advantages of being fluent in English, as well as the importance of maintaining equal respect and appreciation for one’s native language. Anisha hopes that her year in Indonesia will bring her many new friends, memories of expeditions and respectable fluency in Bahasa Indonesia. Afterwards, she will be heading off to University of California Berkeley to attend Chemistry graduate school.

For her Fulbright ETA program, Anisha will be placed at Central Java where she will co-teach at SMKN 6 Semarang.
