Catharina is a lecturer at the Department of Architecture of of Engineering, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in architecture from Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta in 2005 and Master’s degree in urban design and planning from Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2008. Her interest in studying local knowledge and urban characteristics has expanded to correlate with hazards through research funded by the Ministry of Research, Technology and the Higher Education in 2016.
Upon completion of the program, she plans to implement her dissertation findings to understudied disaster prone regions like Mount Merapi, and to publish affordable books aimed at students and academics in the field of architecture.
For her Fulbright Doctoral degree program in urban design & planning, Catharina is placed at University of Washington.
