Dr. Elida Zairina is a senior lecturer in pharmacy at Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Universitas Airlangga, a master’s in public health from Maastricht University, the Netherlands, and a PhD in pharmacy from Monash University, Australia.
Her current research project at the University of Illinois at Chicago is on pharmacy administration & policy, entitled “The Risk of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) and Polypharmacy in Geriatric Patients.” Although polypharmacy, or the use of multiple medicines, is a public health issue in Indonesia, there is currently insufficient evidence to study ADR and polypharmacy in older people, and there are also a limited number of experts in this field. She would like to learn American success stories in managing the negative impacts of polypharmacy in older people.
