
Dr Li-Jen Lester is a Fulbright Specialist conducting a seminar for lecturers at the Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Indonesia, from August 9 until 24, 2024. The project aims to train lecturers in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics to enable them to design STEM lessons that meet the Indonesian government’s requirement of applying an integrated approach to STEM education.
Dr Lester is conducting workshops with faculty members to improve the STEM lecturers’ understanding of the STEM education framework. The workshops’ focus is on developing their competencies in creating STEM learning through project-based and case-based learning techniques.
Dr Li-Jen Lester is a full professor in the Computer Science Department at Sam Houston State University, Texas, USA. Since 2020, she has been an associate dean of the College of Science and Engineering Technology for Research and Scholarships. Her past, current, and future research explores the impact and challenge of computational and critical thinking skills in STEM education and the necessity of a P-16 16-curriculum alignment. She has made significant contributions as a leader to serve her local community, and she is a career-long member of national organizations and international agencies that promote STEM education and training.
