Dr. Swasmi Purwajanti is researching materials science at the University of South Carolina. Her research focuses on nanomaterial synthesis, specifically investigating “nanocomposites as photocatalysts for the decomposition of poly-and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).” The practical applications of Dr. Swasmi’s research are particularly relevant, given the prevalence of PFAS in numerous sectors. Dr. Swasmi is a researcher at the Research Centre for Environmental and Clean Technology, National Agency for Research and Innovation (BRIN). She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Universitas Diponegoro and her master’s in chemical engineering from Newcastle University, UK. She further pursued her doctoral studies in advanced functional nanomaterials at the University of Queensland, Australia, culminating in completing her PhD.
