In the first week of January, ETA Khalid Osman celebrated the New Year with his family and continued the festivities with a communal dinner. The dinner included distinguished guests including, Ibu Saras accompanied by her two sons and the Vice Principal along with his family. The dinner was prepared by Khalid Osman, his mom, and two sisters.

The meal consisted of several traditional Egyptian dishes adapted using Indonesian ingredients. The group shared a wonderful evening as they exchanged recipes and discussed commonalities among their respective cultures. Khalid was grateful for the hospitality his counterpart and school had extended to his family. Despite the language barrier, Khalid’s mother bonded with his counterpart as the pair exchanged oleh-oleh. She expressed relief that her son was being looked after in the presence of good company. At the culmination of the night Khalid felt extremely blessed to have shared a part of the Fulbright journey with his family.
