During English Club on 5 November, students at SMA Negeri 2 Demak had a few special guests! ETA Tessa Sontheimer and co-teacher Bu Dian welcomed Maddie Taylor, an ETA from Malaysia, as well as Bu Astrid and Arshelle from AMINEF.
English Club was focused on gratitude and how to express your gratitude for other people. To do this, they discussed what gratitude is and used some sentence stems to write notes. Students wrote notes to their teachers, their family, their friends, their celebrity inspirations, and their favorite stars on social media. They listened to K-pop and other English language musical hits while they decorated the notes. The students then shared their letters of gratitude with the people in their lives they wrote about. The discussion of gratitude set the stage for discussions later in November about Thanksgiving, being thankful, and what gratitude means to each of us. It was an exciting opportunity to have an English Club with an ETA from another country and guests from AMINEF.
Tessa Sontheimer is currently teaching at SMAN 2 Demak, Central Java.
