This month, SMAN 1 Demak celebrated Indonesia Teacher’s day. Indonesia Teacher’s day was on November 25, so the teachers lead the school in a flag ceremony, however, the rest of the celebrations at SMAN 1 were held on November 21 because of the end of semester exams on November 25.

The day is dedicated to honoring teachers and is celebrated at all schools, often by filling the day with school-wide competitions. ETA Madison “Maddy” Mele was invited to participate in the challenges held throughout the day. The teachers had a volleyball tournament during the morning and ping pong tournament in the afternoon which brought fierce competition and a lot of laughs. The students participated in competitions in the morning in the main schoolyard, and in the afternoon each class created a craft out of recycled materials to present to the headteacher of their class. The class with the best craft won the craft competition, decided by the teachers. Maddy helped some classes with their crafts by making flowers out of plastic bags. The day was jam-packed with excitement, music, games and of course, honoring the dedication of the teachers at SMAN 1 Demak.
