During his first week at the site, ETA Harrison Crawford was invited to a celebration on the anniversary of his host school, SMKN 3, in Manado, North Sulawesi. The vocational school celebrated its anniversary and exceptional job placement rates by inviting students and employers to a job fair in the Manado Mega Mall featuring food, cake, a fashion show, religious ceremonies, and lots of karaoke.
Harrison was very excited to meet and interact with successful former students from his new school and important community partners who help these students find work.
Harrison was also able to dance and celebrate with students and teachers and was even asked to sing a song by his favorite band, The Lumineers! Many students were also very excited to meet their new Fulbright ETA and asked Harrison to go on a short field trip to the beach to practice their English. It was a fantastic way to become familiar with the local Manado community, and Harrison can’t wait to see what the rest of his grant has in store!
Harrison Crawford is currently teaching at SMKN 3 Manado, North Sulawesi.
