One way ETA Nabeel Ahmad engages with his local community is through meeting baristas at a different coffee shop each week. Baristas have very special personalities and can provide insight into the local culture. Nabeel set his goal to visit every coffee shop in Kota Gorontalo back in November and has visited a multitude of different coffee shops. Nabeel has made many friends and memories with baristas. The baristas at J.CO Coffee Shop in Gorontalo Mall invited Nabeel to go hiking in the early morning of December 3rd to Gunung Dulamayo. Nabeel was picked up around 3 am that morning, drove an hour, and hiked for an hour. Nabeel and his new friends were left in awe as the sun rose against the mountainous horizon dotted with many tall trees. Nabeel and his friends shared a breakfast meal on top of Gunung Dulamayo that consisted of nasi kuning (yellow rice) and ayam goreng (fried chicken). As Nabeel and his friends hiked the mountain, Nabeel shared with his friends his experience of hiking the many mountains in Big Bend National Park in Texas, United States.
