The highlight of ETA Katia Oltmann’s month was volunteering to help give an English lesson to pastors and church employees from two of North Sulawesi’s chapters of the International Church of Christ.

There were seven students overall, four women and three men. They were taking lessons in preparation for an international Christian leadership conference in Penang, Malaysia. Sir Agustinus Kakombohe of The Eben Haezar Foundation has been giving them lessons for the past four weeks, and invited Katia to help the class practice speaking.

The class practiced by asking questions about Katia’s life. They asked her how long she’s been in Manado, how she liked it, what she has been doing while she has been in Indonesia, and many other questions.

She had fun helping them practice forming questions and had fun answering them too. It was rewarding to show them that they can, in fact, speak English, and everyone laughed a lot during the lesson.
