This month was quite the busy month for ETA Amy Quirion and her students. When she announced there would a competition at school where the winner goes to Jakarta and possibly Flores, dozens of students from each class wanted to join. From the first day of her announcement upon returning back to school after the long break, many students were excited for the news of the event. From the first meeting, over 60 students told Amy and her co-teachers that they wanted to join the competition!

Fourteen very eager students who were willing to do what it took to win and go to Jakarta for the first time joined the final competition. The day of the competition came and every single student did such an amazing job that announcing the winner was heart-breaking! Amy wishes she could take all her students with her to Jakarta! The participants told amazing stories of their unique Batak culture and the winner in Balige is determined to win first place in Jakarta!
