Giving Thanks

Amy1

ETA Amy Quirion celebrated Thanksgiving with her students on Thursday, November 23rd. Although it was hard being away from family, her students and teachers made it a memorable day.

Amy taught her students the meaning behind Thanksgiving and what it means to be thankful. They had activities that talked about showing gratefulness and being thankful for the things you have. Students sat in a circle outside and each talked about three things they were thankful for. Throughout the day, students described being thankful for their families, for Lake Toba, and for their chance to be able to attend SMAN 2 in Balige. Out of all the students, there was not one who described technology, things, or materials. All answers were very genuine and authentic. Amy was not the only one to teach that day, she also learned something valuable from her students; the Korean hand symbol for love! It was a very memorable day for all.

Amy Quirion is currently teaching at SMAN 2 Balige, North Sumatra
