ETA Kate Morrow got on a bus with fellow teachers and they were off to accompany the tourism students to Belinyu, a city on the northern part of Bangka Island. As soon as the four buses unloaded, everyone brought out the large containers of rice that they brought with them, sat in circles with groups of friends, and feasted, sharing all the homemade meals that they had brought.
After that, they got on the small ferry for Putri Island, and all of the teachers waited to make sure all the students got on the first few trips. While waiting for the ferry, Kate and her fellow teachers took photos, talked about how beautiful Bangka is, and enjoyed some guru-guru time together.
Once on the island, the students were a little shy to swim, but the teachers, their children, and Kate found the changing room right away to enjoy the afternoon playing in the surf. As the afternoon came to a close, some of the students started to join, and Kate found herself enjoying the camaraderie of students and teachers together as friends outside of the confines of the classroom.
Kate Morrow is currently teaching at SMKN 3 Pangkalpinang, Bangka
