The sports hall of SMAS Nurul Ilmi was filled with excitement as the senior high school students enjoyed a day of storytelling with their classmates. As all of the English Teaching Assistants are expected to do, ETA Luke Losie helped organize a WORDS Storytelling competition at his school in Padangsidimpuan on January 16.

After weeks of writing, practicing, and preparing, many brave 10th and 11th graders presented their original stories to their classmates in the school’s local competition. Nurul Ilmi was lucky to be joined by fellow ETA Katrien Weemaes, who offered to be a judge for the competition.

After an hour of hearing many engaging stories from their classmates, the SMAS student body was elated to hear that the winner would continue to the national competition held in Jakarta, where he will no doubt represent Nurul Ilmi fabulously. Luke is so proud of all his students! Reading an original story in front of your classmates is certainly no easy task!
