After the exciting festivities of the December semester holiday, SMK Negeri 3 Manado students are back on campus and ready to learn English! ETA Harrison Crawford could feel the renewed excitement in the air on campus as many students and teachers preemptively approached him to practice and ask about plans for the resumed meeting of the ETA-led Teacher and Student English clubs on campus.
To help students warm up to being back in the classroom and ease into the semester after the holiday, Harrison and his co-teachers decided to host an English-language singing challenge for some of their students. Students were divided into groups and asked to choose and practice one English-language song from an artist of their choosing. Harrison and his co-teachers then gave them scores based on their English ability and singing enthusiasm. Once they were prepared, groups took turns presenting their performance to the class. While the rain pouring outside the class sometimes made it difficult to hear, all the students sang their hearts out and were very excited to get feedback from their teachers. All in all, it was a fun activity and a great way to restart the semester.
Harrison Crawford is currently teaching at SMKN 3 Manado, North Sulawesi.
